Strike hits Tyneside travel

Bus passengers across Tyneside face disruption this week after about 700 staff walked out in a row over pay.
The workers, members of the Transport and General Workers Union, for Stagecoach in Newcastle and South Shields rejected a last-ditch pay offer last week.
Staff walked out on Monday and have said they will hold a further strike on Friday.
A spokesman for the company said: ‘Due to industrial action, we will not be able to operate our normal services.
‘However, we will be running skeleton daytime timetables, between 8am and 6pm, on core routes.’
