Streetscene: Morecambe’s wise move to allow cyclists to promenade

Morecambe’s promenade could be opened to cyclists, after a decision by Lancaster City Council.
Lancaster is awaiting advice from the Department for Communities and Local Government on the wording of the bylaw before it can be formally adopted.
The move comes following a comprehensive consultation and the recognition ‘that it was key to encourage cycle tourism as well as utility cycling’.
Promenade cyclists would be able to visit the new mixed-use development on a four-hectare site on the bay being masterplanned by consultant FLACQ for developer Urban Splash, on show at the Royal Institute of British Architects until 5 September.
