Streets under scrutiny as workshops outline vision for the future

 
Proposals for the new manual for streets aimed at bringing about ‘a fundamental shift in the way in which people share and enjoy streets’ are to be outlined next month.
The perceived barriers to making changes to existing regulations will be discussed, including new research on how stopping site distances can safely be reduced.
The scope for reducing signing and lining, the effect of increasing street permeability on crime levels, and the potential for increased litigation will be part of the four workshops held as part of the WSP Group-led project for the Government.
