Squaring up for funding

Swansea Council is applying for funding to create a high-quality public square on a demolition site.

The council is hoping to create a setting, which complements the rest of the local environment, including nearby historic buildings, Maritime Quarter and Wind Street.

The council is preparing a formal funding application of £1.5M over three years from the Welsh Assembly Government via the physical regeneration fund. Demolition of the former Unifloc building is programmed for autumn 2005.
