Sprucing up Sunderland

Sunderland City Council is taking delivery of a new fleet of street-cleaning machines to improve the cleanliness of the city’s streets, shopping areas and parks.

Three of the improved machines are fitted with weed-spraying equipment to allow treatment on footpaths as they as are being swept.

Cllr Kath Rolph, member for portfolio for neighbourhood and street services, said: ‘These vehicles and their capabilities mean we can continue to improve on our efficiencies and effectiveness, and the already-excellent results that the street-cleaning teams work around-the-clock to achieve.’
