Spine link gives backbone to borough regeneration

Work is due to begin on a £5M road which will act as the main link for Haringey’s biggest regeneration scheme.

The New Spine Road will run through the centre of the Heartlands regeneration scheme in Wood Green. It will be the area’s main north-south link, joining together Western Road and Clarendon Road, and passing through a currently vacant National Grid site. Work on the road will start on Monday 6 August.

Executive member for environment, Cllr Brian Haley, said: ‘The new road is really the key piece in the jigsaw for regeneration of the area between Wood Green High Road and the railway tracks, linking up the area and alleviating congestion in surrounding roads.’

The Heartlands regeneration scheme involves plans for up to 2,500 new homes around under-used utilities land in Wood Green and Hornsey.
