Snakes work their charm

 

The Highways Agency has come to the rescue of one of Great Britain’s rarest and most-protected snakes – the adder.

The country’s only venomous snake has been found along the route of the M6 Carlisle to Guards Mill improvement project in Cumbria. Wildlife experts are moving the reptiles from a 10km stretch of the A74 to new habitats ahead of the £175M scheme to upgrade the road to motorway status.
