Slump hits guided bus project funding

 
Construction of the remaining section of Cambridgeshire’s guided busway remains stalled amid economic uncertainty.


The northern section between St Ives and Cambridge will open later this summer, but the southern section – connecting Addenbrooke’s hospital and Trumpington - has been indefinitely delayed due to a shortage in Section 106 funding.


But Matt Bradney, Cambridgeshire’s cabinet member for transport, insisted that construction of the busway would continue ‘using creative funding’. Bob Menzies, head of the busway project, said the financial forecasts were made ‘on the assumption we would not receive S106 funding’.
