Skills consultation opens

A new skills shortage consultation has been launched to assess workforce trends in specialist engineering roles.

Technical and planning engineers within the road and rail sectors will be the focus of the study, which hopes to build a clear picture of the current skill levels in the transport industry with a view to working out the future supply and demand of transport engineers. It will form part of the Project Brunel Industry Study.

Mike Slinn, president of the Institution of Highways & Transportion, said: ‘This data will help us meet current and future skills needs.’
