Six highway authorities have been chosen as Beacons of best practice in road safety in England.
Devon, Knowsley, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, and Nottingham received their rewards from the deputy prime minister at a ceremony last week.
Deputy prime minister ~John Prescott~ also launched round eight of the Beacon scheme, which, once again, has 10 themes. These include delivering cleaner air, promoting sustainable communities through the planning process, emergency planning, and preventing and tackling anti-social behaviour.
