Similar tale for two cities as Scots agree to invest in bus services

Edinburgh and Inverness are to benefit from a £2.8M package to improve local bus services and reduce dependency on the car.
Transport minister, Tavish Scott, this week announced that four projects would share funding from the executive’s bus route development grant scheme to provide more frequent services, modernised buses and greater capacity in the two cities.
The projects will see an enhancements to: the Inverness to Inverness Airport Rapsons bus service; First Edinburgh’s Linlithgow to Edinburgh service; Lothian Buses’ service 36; and three key interchanges in south Edinburgh.
Scott said: ‘We want real alternatives to the car. That is why we are investing 70% of the £1.5bn we spend on transport in Scotland on improving public transport choices.’
