'Secret' 30mph limits slammed

 
The AA has attacked the Government for its policy of allowing 'secret' 30mph zones around the country.
In its latest newsletter, the AA criticises the 'archaic' policy of not allowing 30mph repeater signs where there is streetlighting and praises local highway authorities putting up 'illegal but helpful' signs. These councils are 'more interested in preventing speeding than catching speeders,' it claims, given the fact that many 30mph zones look like higher-speed roads.
