Scots set out nine priorities for improving infrastructure

The Glasgow Strategic Drainage Plan was one of nine infrastructure projects included in the second National Planning Framework, released for consultation last week.

The framework outlines a vision for Scotland’s development until 2030, building on the Government Economic Strategy, which sets out clear priorities for the improvements of infrastructure to support sustainable economic growth.

Other projects proposed include developing infrastructure to support the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and a replacement Forth Crossing.

Finance secretary, John Swinney, said: ‘The Government Economic Strategy requires a planning framework which supports sustainable economic growth across Scotland, while protecting the quality of the natural and built environment.

‘That is why we have identified our strategic priorities for investment in transport, energy and environmental infrastructure in the draft National Planning Framework.’
