Scotland’s web-based road works register has gone live. The UK’s first fully map-based national co-ordination system covers all noticing requirements of the 1991 street works Act, as well as plant information requests, damage notifications, and the ‘dial before you dig’ one-call service, according to supplier Symology.
The register is also designed to accommodate the new provisions of the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005, and enable users to prepare for the new codes of practice. A
Scottish Executive spokesperson said the enhancements would ‘assist in improving the co-ordination, planning and quality of road works to the benefit of all road users’.
