Scotland appoints ‘bus champion’

Former First Bus managing director, Brian Juffs, has been seconded from the Confederation of Passenger Transport to the Scottish Government’s Transport Directorate, to act as a ‘bus champion’ to work with operators and councils to improve services.

His work will cover a range of issues, including park-and-ride operations, timetabling and punctuality.

‘Sometimes, operators and local authorities have different views, and Mr Juffs’ job will be to make sure all the partners are working together,’ said a government spokesman.

‘He will be working with local authorities, CoSLA and operators to try and make sure bus services improve.’ Top of Mr Juffs in-tray will be West Lothian, where services have been cut, despite council support increasing.
