Roadworks head appointed

Scotland’s first roadworks commissioner has been appointed by the Scottish Executive.
John Gooday will monitor performance and promote good practice. He will also have the power to fine councils and utility companies up to £50,000.
The post of commissioner was established to improve the planning, co-ordination and quality of roadworks in Scotland.
