Road safety: Work planned at death site

Safety works were already planned for a road where a tragic crash left six people dead and a seventh with serious injuries. Five members of the same family in one car and the driver of another were killed in the accident on the A6 in Plumpton, Cumbria, on the 18 June. Cumbria County Council’s local transport plan 2 includes plans to lower the 60mph limit to 40mph by installing a new interactive ‘slow down’ sign and traffic calming road markings. Work is due to start on 24 July.
