Road accident numbers fall

 

The Department of Transport has published national statistics on road casualties in the UK for the first quarter of 2006.

The provisional figures indicate the number of fatalities in road accidents fell by 2% in the 12 months ending March 2006 compared with the previous 12.

Total casualties were down 3%, and the number killed or seriously injured also fell by 4% during the same period.
