Review backs more powers to Holyrood

 
An independent devolution review has recommended some transport powers be transferred to the Scottish Government from Whitehall.

The devolved government is pressing for legislative changes to give it more power to take action on transport matters where the UK Government does not want to act.

The Calman Commission this week recommended that some limited powers over speed limits and drink-driving be transferred to Scotland.

Transport minister Stewart Stevenson said: ‘Where the UK Government will not commit to evidenced changes to legislation, we want to see the powers handed over to the Scottish Government.’
