The ITS (UK) Summit returns this year on 17 October with registration now open for the event at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
The President’s Dinner and Awards will be held on the previous evening, Wednesday 16 October.
The Summit brings together ITS leaders in the public and private sector, plus highways managers and public transport operators to discuss policy, implementation and funding, as well as identifying best practice in ITS technology and application.
This year, after the opening address from the ITS (UK) President, former transport minister Steve Norris, delegates will hear all about the groundbreaking ITS projects in the West Midlands from driverless car development to connected vehicle implementation.
Other programme highlights include:
- Participate in an Oxford style debate on private vehicle ownership vs shared mobility as the only sustainable future for transport
- Hear about the achievements and benefits of ITS projects
- What does the end user want from the transport network?
- Interactive session on using budgetary and political constraints to your advantage
- Hear from the next generation of ITS experts on subjects including safety, transport planning, collaboration, environment and air quality
There will be explanations about how connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) projects were planned and delivered, their achievements and benefits and what the rest of the country, and indeed the world, can learn from it.

Delegates will also hear from Transport Focus about end user needs and how to deliver them when developing ITS solutions.
After a very successful debate last year, this returns with another adversarial discussion this year on the subject of Mobility as a Service.
Two supporters and two opponents of the motion: 'This House Believes that we are in the last years of private vehicle ownership and shared mobility is the only sustainable future for transport' will passionately discuss it with the audience getting to vote on which viewpoint they support.
Delegates also have an interactive session on using budgetary and political constraints to their advantage, with each table at the Summit working to prioritise funding for a new transport project, adjusting their scope and integrating social and sustainable value. The session will see how differently different experts plan to deliver the challenge and ultimately, find out what should be being prioritised on the network.
After hearing from the next generation of ITS experts in the form of winners of the ITS (UK) Student and New Entrant Essay competitions, there will be a range of talks on key ITS subjects such as:
- Safety
- Enviornment and Air Quality
- Transport planning
- Collaboration
- International Cooperation
