Regeneration: €308bn for flagging regions

The European Union will spend €308bn on regional development programmes, helping poorer and needy areas of most member states from 2007 to 2013.
The European regional development fund, social fund and cohesion fund were approved last week.
The money will be distributed annually in €42-45bn tranches, to transport and other projects assisting areas in need of economic development.
