Scotland’s most advanced recycling facility opened this week.

Viridor has invested more than £7M in the purpose-built structure on its existing site in Bargeddie, Lanarkshire. The facility is capable of recycling 60,000t of material each year.

Speaking at the opening last week, environment secretary Richard Lochhead said: ‘This plant can play a key role in helping Scotland meet its 70% recycling target, and is an example of the type of infrastructure Scotland needs to move away from landfill.’
