Recycling rules spelt out in black and white

Residents in Aberdeen are being urged to only use designated recycling boxes and bags for kerbside collections, and warned any extra materials not placed in the black boxes and white bags will not be collected.

A council spokesperson said: ‘Council policy has always been to only collect materials in the council-approved boxes and bags. ‘We understand that in some cases, additional waste has been collected in the past – but as part of the contamination campaign now started, Aberdeen City Council is tightening up the policy.

If it is not possible to find ways of reducing the material, the city’s waste aware team is urging residents to take excess recyclate to their closest recycling centre.
