Ready to drive up 4x4 cost

Transport for London is working on plans to more than double the congestion charge payable by high-polluting four-wheel drive vehicles.

London mayor ~Ken Livingstone~ told this week’s GMTV Sunday programme he favoured a £20-a-day charge for cars which emit two or three times a normal car’s carbon dioxide emissions. It follows a petition with 5,500 signatures collected by the ‘Alliance Against Urban 4x4s’, which has outlined how the charge could be implemented. Green Party member and mayoral adviser, Jenny Jones, said she was confident Livingstone would act.
