Progress in talks sees Tube strike called off

The proposed strike due to take place on Thursday 5 October has been cancelled after 'sufficient progress'. London Underground services will run as normal, Transport for London has confirmed.

Aslef spokesman Finn Brennan told the BBC "pleased" the strike could be called off.

However he added: 'Our ballot remains live and we will not hesitate to call action in the future if needed to ensure all the commitments made are fully delivered.'

The strike had been expected to cause 'significant disruption' with no service on most routes.
