Procurement: Call for clarity on tenders

A union has called on Enfield London borough council to delay procurement of its single highways works contract after one man was allegedly scheduled to present two of the three tenders.
The GMB union spoke out against the council’s ‘opaque tendering system’ after its members found out that an Ian Nicholls had been listed to present the tenders for both Fitzpatrick and May Gurney.
The presenting of tenders to the cabinet, due to take place this month, has been postponed following the complaint, and a letter to the GMB said the matter had been referred to the council’s legal department.
