Power crisis hits the west

 
A loss of power across a substantial part of the west end of Glasgow caused a traffic signal blackout in parts of the city during rush hour on Monday evening.

Glasgow City Council’s TRAFFCOM centre resumed normal services across its network within two hours, and put engineers on standby to address potential knock-on effects in local areas.

According to Scottish Power, a problem at one of the city’s substations was to blame for pockets of power shortages in the area.
