Pope’s praying for better

Planned transport improvements for the London area of the Thames Gateway are ‘disappointing,’ according to the chair of the London Assembly transport committee.

Geoff Pope, speaking to Surveyor after taking evidence from ~Transport for London~ on blueprints for the East London Transit and Greenwich Waterfront Transit schemes, said the two schemes, costing £18M and £26M, were a ‘missed opportunity’. ‘These fancy buses will be too slow and have too small a capacity. It is disappointing.’ Construction on the ELT between Ilford and Dagenham Dock Station is due to start next year.
