Poole powers ahead with plans to transform derelict generating plant

Poole Borough Council is set to make a decision on a planning application to transform a former power station into a commercial and residential development.

The plans, by developer JJ Gallagher to develop the site in Hamworthy, include the construction of more than 1,600 new homes, public access to the waterfront, and a link road for the new Twin Sails Bridge.

Cllr Brian Leverett, leader of the council, said: ‘We very much want to see new development at the site. This is a large area with an attractive outlook that makes a superb place for people to live.’ A decision will be made over the next few months.
