Partners plan EfW facility

The Lincolnshire Waste Partnership has opted to build a £110M waste-to-energy plant on the outskirts of North Hykeham, a town to the southeast of Lincoln.

The partnership, which represents the county council and seven district councils, wants to see the plant built alongside an existing landfill site on the A46.

It is expected to treat 150,000t of waste each year, and generate 10 magajoules of heat for local use and 15 megawatts of electricity for sale to the National Grid.

A publicity campaign aimed at winning over local residents has been launched, stressing the plant would use state-of-the-art technology to prevent pollution.
