Parking permit ‘sales’ outlawed

City centre residents in Nottingham have found former neighbours selling on parking permits to commuters when they leave.

Police say there is a growing trade across the city, and earlier this year, officers arrested a man selling parking permits to students at £5 a time.

A Nottingham city council spokesman said: ‘The council introduces residents’ parking schemes to allow those residents with little off-street parking a better opportunity to park close to their own property by excluding commuters’ or shoppers’ vehicles.

‘It is disappointing that some residents are misusing the permits they have been provided, and we have taken and will take action against anyone found to be doing so.’
