Parking: Free spirits rule Oxford

 
Free on-street off-peak parking has been made permanent in Oxford. Oxfordshire County Council made the decision following a trial, in operation since December. Councillors also decided against a new £4-an-hour charge for parking in the morning weekday peaks.
Instead, the transport committee agreed to the first rise since 1998 of 50p extra per hour for all charges.
