PFI: Successful bidders named

 
Ministers announced the successful bidders for the latest round of private-finance initiative credits, worth £694M, this week.
The 15 councils – which include five counties, as well as urban authorities – will now prepare an outline business case for a PFI streetlighting contract and, if they gain approval, start procurement. The repair backlog stands at £1.65bn.
The successful authorities were: Blackpool, Cambridgeshire, Coventry, Croydon/Lewisham, Cumbria, Hampshire, Harrow, Northamptonshire, Nottingham, Oldham, Rochdale, Sheffield, Southampton and West Sussex.
