One hit is a wonder as Staffordshire team scoops award

Staffordshire Highways won this year’s National Joint Utility Group partnership award for a major revitalisation project.

The Kinver infrastructure improvement project saw electricity, water, gas, streetlighting and highways organisations going into the village and working as one team, ensuring the whole service upgrade was carried out in one big hit.

The Staffordshire’s highways team worked with Central Networks, South Staffordshire Water, National Grid Gas and ABB Street Lighting. The multi-stranded improvement scheme upgraded electrical cables, water mains, gas pipes and service connections, streetlights, bus stops, and installed a new footpath over the bridge at Kinver Lock.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for economic regeneration, John Wakefield, said: ‘Effective and innovative highways co-ordination is massively important in keeping our economy on the move, particularly in these challenging times.’
