On the verge of fewer KSIs

Herefordshire Council is seeing the results of several road safety initiatives, with a reduction in the numbers of people injured or killed on Herefordshire roads over the last year.
The council improved verge maintenance by carrying out more regular cutting, which made visibility better for motorists. New road surfaces with better grip have also been used in parts of the county to improve skidding resistance. Some 119 people were killed or seriously injured in 2006, compared with 147 in 2005.
