Old fossils aren’t a patch on vegetable bus successor

A bus which runs almost entirely on vegetable oil will become the first such vehicle to run on a park-and-ride scheme.
~The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead~'s first ‘veggie bus’ – an Optare Solo, which runs on waste vegetable oil instead of diesel – will operatte from Stafferton Way car park to Maidenhead town centre.
Vegetable oil is fast-being recognised as a cheaper, more environmentally-friendly alternative to expensive and polluting traditional fuels, and results in a 15 to 20% fuel saving. However, the vehicle still needs ordinary diesel to start and for a short time after. Operator Courtneys is planning for its entire fleet to be converted by the end of the year.
