Novice commuter cyclists have got themselves a convoy

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has launched a new initiative aimed at helping new commuter cyclists in the capital get to work.

The Cycle Fridays project – run by Transport for London – involves a series of bike convoys travelling to six different locations around the city.

The scheme will run for eight weeks and is led by experienced riders, in order to give novice cyclists extra support to help them start cycling to work.

Johnson said: ‘Cycle Fridays are a brilliantly-simple way of giving thousands of commuters the confidence to get cycling. I’m sure that when they see how much of a fun, healthy and convenient experience it can be, they will be hooked.’
