Novel nozzle application gives plenty to spout about

Ringway has taken delivery of an ‘environmentally-friendly and quick-acting’ road repair machine to fix potholes on Surrey County Council’s roads.

The Jetpatcher machine uses a unique mixture of granite, chipping and hot bitumen to fill and compact the pothole from the base upward, rather than from the top down – as with traditional methods – which ensures the same density throughout the defect. The nozzle application ensures there is no waste, and the treated surface is ready to drive over immediately after laying.

Mel Wallace, operations manager at Ringway, said: ‘With this new method, we can lay 2.5m3 of material an hour. This will help minimise disruption and traffic delays for both pedestrians and motorists caused by ongoing road works.’
