Norwich shows signs of a stylish makeover

Norwich City Council has just unveiled plans to spend £200,000 on new sign posts, in a bid to help locals and tourists find their way.

The council says ‘stylish’ new finger posts and information boards will replace existing signs throughout the city, many of which are in need of repair or contain out-of-date information.

The signs are part of the council’s pedestrian way-finding strategy, which has been developed in collaboration with European partners. The scheme is jointly funded and the council has added £53, 000 to a total of £46,000 received from city centre businesses, £110,000 from the European Union Spatial Metro project, and £30,000 from Norfolk County Council.

Two distinct types of design will be used – a system of fingerposts, with white text on dark grey arms supported by stainless steel posts, and six information monoliths at key locations within the city centre.
