New 'live highway' area comes to UK's leading traffic event

The UK’s leading traffic and parking exhibition this year features a new section simulating a live public highway to help delegates explore the latest technology and design developments, Transport Network can reveal.

As official media partners Transport Network will be reporting live from Traffex and Parkex - the combined exhibition for international traffic engineering, road safety, parking and highway maintenance at the NEC Birmingham 21-23 April 2015.

For the first time Traffex visitors will be able to explore products in a life size ‘public highway’ environment in which cars, trucks and buses will be incorporated. To find out more visit the Traffex 2015 website here.

A working traffic signal controlled junction, controlled pedestrian and cycle crossings, a live road works area and an "after dark" viewing area for observing retro reflective safety products are also part of the feature area.

Bill Butler, Traffex exhibition director, said: ‘Having a combined Traffex and Parkex has proven to be a great success in previous years, and we're confident that this year's show will be no different, particularly after achieving an 8% growth in visitor numbers at recent events.’

This year’s event has around 400 exhibitors set to launch new products and services, with numbers boosted by the £15bn injection into UK’s strategic road network over the next parliament and the £6bn earmarked for local roads.

Gerry Hawkins, client relationship manager for Peek traffic said: ‘[Traffex is] the only exhibition to meet all our customers in one space... a lot of big leads and many conversations with existing customers to develop new opportunities, as well as new business.’
