NLWA gains Waste stake

The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) has acquired a 50% stake in LondonWaste from Sita UK as part of plans to overhaul its procurement process.

NLWA, already the country’s second largest waste disposal authority, will become a 100% shareholder in LondonWaste from December. Land and key facilities such as energy from waste and compost plants will transfer to NLWA’s ownership.

The energy from waste facility will now be used as an interim solution for managing the waste from the seven London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest.
