Move will leave its mark

 
A scheme to strip streets virtually bare of road markings has been taken on by the Scottish capital. Officers at Edinburgh City Council believe the move will lead to a fall in the number of accidents because drivers are more slow and careful when there are no lines. Three trials, which will see barriers and markings removed, are due to be set up in Princes Street and a site in the West End.
