Motorist landed with ticket after council ‘moves’ car onto yellow lines

A woman has blasted Manchester City Council after claiming her car was moved into a restricted parking zone and hit with a fine while new yellow lines were painted.

Clair Morris returned to her legally parked Mazda to find it had been moved to a new location with double yellow lines and landed with a penalty notice.

She branded the move ‘off the scale’ and launched a passionate tirade against the town hall on Twitter.

'.@ManCityCouncil you moved my car, you painted yellow lines, you put my car on the yellow lines & GAVE ME A TICKET,' she wrote.

However her fury soon turned to relief when the council cancelled the ticket and apologised for the error: '@ManCityCouncil have cancelled my ticket. Justice prevailed. Go freedom. Long live Tracey. Thanks everyone, especially @danielledwyer1 x'

A Manchester City Council spokesman said: ‘This car should not have been moved to a location with double yellow lines, and this ticket should not have been issued and will be cancelled.

‘Our contractors apologise for this error and we are now insisting that they follow our strict codes of conduct.’
