More calling for inspectors

~Kent County Council~ is planning to give its 50 highway inspectors a prominent role in keeping traffic moving.
The inspectors will be deployed in branded Kent Highways vans to chivvy the police into reopening roads more quickly, and the utilities into finishing works promptly. They will use TMA powers to charge utility firms overrunning on work.
The county has also drawn up plans to create a £10M traffic control centre in Maidstone.
