More LTP flexibility ahead

 
The Local Transport Bill paves the way for the removal of five-year cycles for revising local transport plans, with councils able to revise their LTPs as they think appropriate.

Graham Fitton, chair of the CSS transport committee, said councils would probably continue to produce LTPs every five years anyway because they are content with the process. But discussions have taken place about extending the review to 10 years, with a ‘light tough refresh’ every three years.

‘Much depends on the guidance which is issued by the Government,’ he said.
