Moor ways to help business

A new, 42-mile stretch of bridleway is soon to open in East Lancashire.

The bridleway, funded by Natural England, Sport England and local authorities, will join the main Pennine Bridleway National Trail at Hameldon Moor.

The total cost of the project has not yet been established, but it is expected to be completed in 2009.

Elliott Lorimer, lead officer for West Pennine Moors partnership, said: ‘A condition of the additional funding for the extension to create a bridleway loop was that the project provides business development support to help local businesses take advantage of this developing tourist attraction.

‘A series of workshops on a range of topics has already been held involving rural and farm businesses, with more planned over the next year.’
