Minister’s festive cheer

Northern Ireland’s roads minister, David Cairns, has announced a temporary embargo of roadworks taking place on major routes into Belfast, Bangor and Lisburn, so as not to disrupt Christmas shoppers.
The voluntary arrangement, between the Roads Service and the utility companies, will ban all planned road works on the main routes in Belfast, Bangor and Lisburn, except for unavoidable works, from the last week of November and will continue until 2 January.
