Northern Powerhouse minister Jake Berry has ruled out a Yorkshire-wide devolution deal.
In a visit to Yorkshire yesterday, Mr Berry insisted the historic county’s city leaders must press their individual cases for the transfer of powers and funding.

He used a comment piece in a local paper to reaffirm the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse project.
Mr Berry wrote: ‘I want to be very clear about one thing. There will not be a full Yorkshire devolution deal.
'Yorkshire is a fantastic brand, but devolution is about giving control to cities.’
He said the deal signed originally in October 2015 for the Sheffield city region, which includes Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, would be the first instance of Yorkshire devolution.
A mayoral election is due to take place in May.
