Meters put others in shade

Half of Mendip’s parking meters will be solar powered for the first time under a new initiative rolled out last week.

Mendip District Council has installed 56 new parking meters, of which half are solar powered. The meters replace old and worn ones, some of which date back 20 years.

The first of the new meters was unveiled in Frome last week, and the rest will be rolled out over the next few weeks.
