Highland Council 's director of transport environmental and community services, Mary McLauchlan, has died, aged 45, after a lengthy illness.
McLauchlan joined the council in June 2002 and led the TEC services team with a budget of £61M, covering roads, transport, harbours, waste management, environmental health, trading standards and direct services.
Council chairman, Charlie King said: ‘Mary was an excellent director.’
